Medical Billing Fundamentals
About the program
Medical Billing Fundamentals provides individuals with the fundamental skills needed to begin training for a career in medical billing. Clients taking this online course are not expected to have any medical billing skills. An initial assessment of written and verbal communication skills, an introduction to basic medical terminology, navigating stressful work environments, and adapting to change are all used to tailor the course to the student’s needs. Successful completers of this course will gain skills needed to be successful in our Medical Biller career training program.
Upon completing Medical Billing Fundamentals training, clients will be prepared to take our course that requires attention to detail and have a better understanding of technology used in today’s competitive and integrated workforce.
Individuals enrolling in this course must have functional vision and if users of magnification software use no larger than 4x magnification.
Training in this course occurs in 2 phases.
Assessment
As each new client enters the course, they will undergo an assessment period. During this time, the client will work with an expert instructor to determine which skills the client has already mastered, what needs improvement and what the student has yet to learn. With quantitative results from the assessment in hand, the instructor will work with each client to develop a training plan to tailor the course’s material to the student’s unique needs.
Medical Billing
Medical billers have a wide variety of skills needed to be successful. In this introduction to medical billing, clients will develop an attention to detail, analytical skills, social skills, and a better understanding of what it will really take to be successful in the field. Students will learn commonly used terminology, identify insurance plans, what is coding, navigating patient and provider information, commonly used forms in the field, what is a claim, resolving payment problems, privacy, fraud, and a multitude of different billing specialties in from which a biller can choose to pursue in their career.
