World Services for the Blind Foundation presents the 2021 Vision Award Honoring Ronald Dedman, President
Join WSB on October 7th, at the Clinton Presidential Hall for the 2021 Vision Award
Ronald Dedman has only had one employer for more than 43 years – AT&T. In 1974 he began work, at what was then Southwestern Bell, as a summer intern in Newport, AR. Three summers later he returned to the company and worked as a directory assistance operator until May 1978, when he graduated from Arkansas State University. Upon graduation he accepted a promotion, relocating to Pine Bluff and later to Little Rock, and built the foundation for his career by gaining experience in the areas of Operator Services, Marketing and finally External Affairs.
On January 1, 2018, Ronnie was promoted to Regional Director-External Affairs for AT&T Arkansas, then named President-AT&T Arkansas on June 4, 2018. His responsibilities grew from central Arkansas to the entire state, providing him an opportunity to promote the growth and development of AT&T through legislative, business and community affairs, for the benefit of the communities and customers AT&T serves.
Because AT&T’s mission includes serving the communities in which we live and work,
Ronnie has had the privilege to serve throughout his career. He previously served as Chairman of the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, being the first African American to hold the position. He’s also particularly proud to have been initially appointed by Governor Mike Huckabee, then reappointed by Governor Mike Beebe, to the Board of Trustees for Pulaski Technical College, where he served as a board member for 10 years and had the unique opportunity to twice serve as Chairman of the Board. As chairman, Ronnie led the effort to merge Pulaski Technical College, now known as UA-PTC, with the University of Arkansas System.
Serving as a member on other boards, whether associated with his work or due to personal conviction, has allowed Ronnie to make a positive difference in many areas; board memberships or past memberships include:
Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee and current Chairman of the Board
Little Rock Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee and past Chairman of the Board
Arkansas State University Foundation
Little Rock Boys and Girls Clubs
American Lung Association of Arkansas
Little Rock Work Force Investment
Downtown Little Rock Partnership
Ronnie is a graduate of both Leadership Greater Little Rock, sponsored by the Little Rock Chamber, and Leadership Arkansas, the Arkansas State Chamber’s leadership program. He has served as a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and as a past member of the Little Rock Rotary Club, was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. Ronnie was the recipient of the Junior Achievement of Arkansas 2020 Legacy Award for his exceptional leadership in supporting academic excellence in Arkansas.
Ronnie is married to Margaret Preston Dedman; he is the father of Ronald Mitchell Dedman and proud grandfather of Reece Kingston Dedman.
