World Services for the Blind offers a variety of fundamentals courses online. Fundamental courses can help a student gauge if the career training program is right for them or if they need extra help in a certain area before beginning a career training program.
Assistive Technology Fundamentals
The Assistive Technology Fundamentals course is designed to equip students with a core set of technical skills needed to be successful in an online learning environment. Clients taking this online course are not expected to have any technology skills. An initial assessment and introduction to computers, cell phones, Braille displays, notetakers, book readers, email, and word processing software is used to develop a tailored learning experience for each student. Skilled instructors provide a one-on-one approach that fits the individual needs of each client. Successful completers of this course will gain skills needed to excel in the digital age, one step closer to leading a life of sustainable independence.

Medical Billing Fundamentals
Medical Billing Fundamentals provides individuals with the fundamental skills needed to begin training for a career in medical billing. Clients taking this online course are not expected to have any medical billing skills. An initial assessment of written and verbal communication skills, an introduction to basic medical terminology, navigating stressful work environments, and adapting to change are all used to tailor the course to the student’s needs. Successful completers of this course will gain skills needed to be successful in our Medical Biller career training program.
